"The ability of actors is not limited within theatres. We can 'act' anywhere. This experience has widened my understanding of what it can mean to be an actor and to connect with your audience." Participant in artist training programme

The MAP works internationally in the fields of performance, artist development, theatre education and creative training.

Artist development

The MAP is committed to building cross-cultural partnerships that can inform the development of pure and applied arts training and practice in the UK and across the world. We have partnerships with leading practitioners in Tokyo, New York and Mumbai. Professional development projects have been delivered in association with Seinendan Theatre in Tokyo, Les Arts Florissants in France and The British Council in India.

Theatre education

The MAP shares its practice through talks, seminars and workshops at international conferences, action research projects with international partners and through supporting artist and teacher exchange programmes with a number of countries. The current focus for this work is, The Art of Change, a cross-cultural research and development project bringing together teachers and artists from the UK, Japan, India, Catalonia and the US (see education page). In 2006 The MAP designed and facilitated Cultures of Learning a conference exploring creative learning from an international perspective.
